Ticking off the list

Today was overcast so I thought it would be a good time to finally plant the rose cuttings next to my new wall.

I also thought it would be a fun activity for Willow, who is staying with us, to enjoy.

I got the job done, but it wasn't any fun for her, after coating her feet in the annoying Onehunga weed.

This is not the time of year to forget one's shoes when coming to stay with nana.

Rain is forecast for later so perfect for the plants, though not so good for an active six-year-old being indoors. We are lucky with the beach being so close though, so hopefully will get a walk in before the rain does come.

I just have to rekindle my energy first.

I also planted the kaka beak and a single sun flower this morning, the latter being one I had bought as some fundraiser a while back.

This garden contains three pink, three orange and a yellow hibiscus, along with a yellow abutilon, some belladonna lillies, a money tree, geranium, and various succulents.

I am looking forward to everything flowering, though nothing has done particularly well here but I am hoping that will change with the new fence as it will block the strong southerlies.

I am thankful to be able to tick another thing off my list following this morning's gardening.

And I am also thankful I have done my Christmas shopping already and have completed many of my pre-Christmas chores. Yesterday we water blasted the porch and outdoor furniture and half of the windows. This morning I wiped down the sills and dressers. There is not a lot left to do.

The big remaining task is the grocery shopping. I would like to get that out of the way by about Thursday.

Jason and his girlfriend arrive from the Gold Coast on Tuesday for a night, before returning Christmas eve. Lots coming up between now and Christmas but once again I am so thankful I have been chipping away at my list.
