Greatcoats to Growler
Greatcoats to Growler by P J Lee
Greatcoats to Growler is a collection of poems inspired from the writer’s time on the farm, in the shearing sheds and with her family.
We hear about Renee’s travelling woes, the cook who served up meat pies for lunch and was made to pay for it, and the inquisitive house cow that wanted to know what was inside the house.
Greatcoats to Growler derives its name from the first and last poems in the book, The Greatcoats telling the story of the writer's father in the war and The Growler about a noisy pump.
Some poems are humorous, while others are reflective, sad or even incredulous. Did that really happen?

My friend and I were reading the book together. We were laughing so hard sometimes that we couldn't finish reading the poems. Genuinely love this work. They are for me, the type of poems I'll read again and again. Can't ever imagine the joy in reading them diminishing over time or with repeat readings. Looking forward to volume two.

Enjoyed this book and the stories and happenings of all the characters, especially the animals. Lots of variety, rhyme and laughter.
