Sunshine
This has to be a positive blog today, after the heaviness of yesterday’s piece. It is a glorious day outside, the pansies and watsonias are in full flower, and having just walked to my treatment room to attend to Stephen’s neck, I was uplifted along the route by the sight of these beautiful flowers, and the new steps we have put in. The sun was pouring into the room too, which only happens for a small portion of the year, so that was uplifting as well.
The kids converted half of the double garage for me to use as a treatment room several years ago. It was lovely having it for all my clients and not having them walking through my house each time they came. This house is only a two-bedroom one, so having one of the rooms taken up with a massage table meant there was no bed for visitors either. Now a days, the spare room has a queen bed and my writing desk and computer, so it is still multifunctional. The treatment room, on the other hand, provides a space for dry storage out the back as well as the table in the front part, so a win on many fronts. I don’t use that room very often these days, but my books are kept there, so it is good to have a bird, rain, and rat-proof storage area without cluttering the house up.
When Stephen moved up, he had the perfect cabinet, which is the main furniture piece in the treatment room. He was going to throw it out but I knew I would have a function for it. It is quite large, about two metres long by a metre wide and deep, but I saw immediately that it would provide the perfect storage for my massage bedding. I used acrylic blankets of varying thicknesses for my massages as these didn’t absorb oil, plus they dried quickly. I needed a lot of these to ensure I always had fresh linen on the bed for each new person and for the times when the ones on the line hadn’t dried in time because of poor weather. These have actually lasted well too, some of them are now 14 years old, though some of the older ones have holes appearing.
I always enjoy being in my treatment room. The energy inside is beautiful. These days, I only massage family and do the odd healing, although Chiara and I use it for her training, which is its most frequent use. It is so nice to have a beautiful place to take someone when there is work of the healing nature to do, because the setting, or lack thereof, is a big part of any treatment. Sometime I go down there if I want to do work on myself. I have built up a lovely CD collection over the years to use for the massage and healing work, Native American music and dolphin and whale, being my favourite, so I don’t get to play these as much, but I always enjoy listening to this music when I am there.
There are lots of things to be grateful for and it is this room and everything in it that I express my gratitude for today.
