Horrors of the world

The wind is blowing too hard, or the day is too cold. We’ve had too much rain or not enough or the politician is annoying us. Stop. We are free, we are not at war. We are not afraid. We have water, electricity and food, even those of us who are struggling.

What has happened in the minds of people who can slaughter innocent children, mothers and the elderly? It certainly puts our annoyances into perspective.

I was horrified to have heard that children had been beheaded. I hope this was an inaccuracy in reporting as the mere thought is abhorrent to me. But even turning up at a music festival in the middle of nowhere and shooting all those innocent people, what the hell? And babies? Obviously, actions intended to hurt those left behind. I should imagine being held hostage would be an even greater torture, knowing that one could lose their life at any moment. These cowardly terrorists have threatened to kill the hostages one by one if there is retaliation.  

And look at the poor people caught in the middle of the conflict, now without food, water or electricity. I am sure most of these are good people, but the actions of a demented few means that many innocent people will suffer on both sides of the conflict.

I have struggled with this issue before, but how come, in this day and age, can there be such barbaric atrocities carried out? How come? Have we learnt nothing from the past, nothing from our forebears who fought in World Wars or other conflicts?

I see some people are likening these terrorists to the freedom fighters of Ukraine. What? Those Ukrainian men are defending their country. They are not out killing innocent women and children. If it was Israel who had attacked these latest terrorists, then perhaps some sort of retaliation would be justified, but not coming into another’s country and killing the most vulnerable, no way.

Where is the love? Where is the love in people’s hearts and people’s minds? Love is the most powerful force in this universe so how come it is being overridden by hatred? Where has society’s reasoning and judgement fallen down so greatly that people resort to this kind of behaviour? Why is there so much greed? Why can’t people be happy with what they do have?

I will dedicate some time every day towards sending love to these unsettled countries. If enough of us do this, we will make some impact. Thoughts are real, healings are real and love is powerful. I don’t believe that it is by chance that I chose to incarnate in this beautiful, peaceful country of ours. It is not by chance that I have been given the ability to distant heal – we all have.  It is time for us to all use these abilities and stop sweating the small stuff. Things could be a whole lot worse.
