Satisfaction

It was with satisfaction this morning that I found a list I had made a month or two back, and realised I had achieved most of the things on that list. Yay.

Lists are great, especially when one finds them at a later date and is able to tick off the contents. Usually, when I write my lists, I add things that I really don’t expect to get done, rather, they are more fanciful thoughts than anything else. Sometimes these get transferred to the next list or forgotten about completely or sometimes they actually do get done.

In the last few days, Stephen and I have completed the new railway-sleeper steps on the front deck and moved the ponga that sat in the middle of the boards, something that I hadn’t even put on my list because I hadn’t thought of moving it before. But it certainly makes a difference to have all that extra deck space.

I have signed up to attend the November Mind, Body, Spirit event in Whangarei, but I won’t speak at this one, as I may not have my two helpers this time around to man the stall when I am doing so. Plus, not speaking eases the stress for me, leading up to the event.

My children’s book, which has been years in the making, and has found itself on many of my lists, is getting closer to fruition. It was disappointing to find that the landscape layout (sideways) is going to cost considerably more than a portrait (upright) one to produce. I hadn’t realised that there would be a difference, so that means I will have to sell the book for more too, something I hadn’t wanted to do. My niece, who has illustrated this book, has offered to change the layout to portrait but she is a busy woman and it will take quite a bit of her time. We may do that at a later date.

It will be interesting to see how different it will be trying to sell a children’s book as opposed to the spiritual ones. I know the target audiences will be quite different. The children’s one might sell at the local market, whereas there was no interest for the other two there, whereas the children’s one could still sell at the spiritual event. Then I have the question. I sold 17 books at Whangarei’s last event. Will there be another 17 people who will buy a copy this time, or have all the buyers bought? It is only by attending this event again that I will find my answer to that one. But at least I am trying, which was something that made my New Year’s list!

Weeding patches of garden, putting boards as garden edges and other garden chores were other things on my latest list. Tonight, I will have to write another. I know what will be top of this one and that is cleaning the oven, something I keep forgetting to do. I tell myself, I must do that in the morning. Morning comes and I head outside for my walk or to the computer for the blog. Then it is too sunny to be indoors. This morning I am off to the local writing group. Maybe tomorrow morning?
