Limitations
I am writing my blog today on my phone. This is for two reasons. The first is I haven't got the energy to sit up at the computer and the second is my back is really sore. Usually I write my blog in the morning but today I decided to use my energy sanding and painting the front wall of the garage. There wasn't a lot to do as I had done most of it earlier in the year. That painting included changing the colour of the treatment room doors and painting the garage door. There wasn't a lot left to paint but where it was, was awkward. So I sanded, applied primer and did the first coat, but the second will have to wait for another day. It was the angle that I was bent in to do the high painting, that caused my back pain.
From massaging several clients a day, to where I am now, barely able to do anything physical for more than an hour or so, I really notice the deterioration in my capabilities. I would like to think it is because I am not 100 % well, rather than how it will be going forwards. I have spent my whole life doing lots of hard physical work. My body was strong and didn't ever let me down. And that was right up to 2019 when I got the pericarditis.
My soon-to-be 80 year-old friend puts me to shame with what she is able to do. I hope my body will return to its former strength, but for now I guess I'll just have to continue taking things easy and accept my limitations and the fact that for the time being, life isn't what it used to be.
