Third time lucky

I had another attempt at writing my speech for the Mind, Body event in Whangarei this weekend. I thought yesterday’s version was fine until I tried reciting it and found my words wanted to take me in a different direction to what I had written. So, another couple of hours later and I have finished the rewrite. I was somewhat alarmed yesterday, when instead of reading it, I recited what I could remember and found the 14-minute reading time had extended to 26 minutes of talking time. Far too long for even interested people to sit listening. I recorded myself too and was shocked at how poorly I enunciated my words. There will definitely be a bit of practise going on this week. To make matters worse – the next few days are shaping up to be busy ones, just when I wanted some quiet time to prepare for the weekend.

But I am sure all will be accomplished by Friday, when we leave. At least I hope so. I have chosen to use a bookcase rather than a table to display my books. That way, everything I need can be inside the bookcase with the books displayed on top. I will drape the orange batik material I bought at a garage sale a fortnight ago over the top and back of the case which will now be facing the public. As I will also be having my massage table to carry out treatments, I figured that a book case would take up less room than a table and also hide all the accessories, making the stall a tidier looking place for those walking past the outside. Hopefully the aesthetics will help with sales.

Another thing I have done this morning is update the front page of my website. I did this after one of my friends told me she hadn’t realised that one could click on the book images to read more about the books. She was one of the people who had written a review for me and thought that hers had not been included, as only two are visible on the home page. I figured, that if she couldn’t find them, and she’s pretty computer literate, then others wouldn’t be able to either. Hopefully, the few added words will make it easier for people to navigate my website.

I am thinking of adding a photo with this blog of my bookcase and book display in preparation for Saturday. Raining hard though so it needs to stop before I venture out. These things are in my treatment room which is in part of the garage, a short walk from the house.

Mission accomplished, I will include the photo with this blog.
