Stain removal
I have just lain back in a chair and reflected. Yesterday I had my carpet cleaned with the aim of removing stains and today I had my teeth whitened for the same purpose. The teeth entailed four treatments of 20 minutes as the formula carried out its work, with a follow-up in about six weeks time. My teeth are definitely lighter so I am pleased about that, the first time I have ever had them whitened. Twenty-five years ago, I had a plate put on three of my bottom front teeth to fill in the gap of a missing one. At the time, I insisted of on having the whitest version available, as I always intended to get my teeth whitened, but never got around to it. Over the years the plate has lost its colour but I see it is now back to how it was.
As for the carpet, all of the stains are still there so I am not sure whether these are non-removable, or something else. The carpet was in pretty good condition, but I just felt that after 10 years, it was time to get it professionally cleaned. I had expected the stains to disappear, as well as the obvious colour difference in areas of higher wear and tear. Being an acrylic carpet, it has been easy to remove most of the food stains myself and I will try on the remaining ones to see if they are in fact removable. My treatment room hasn’t dried yet but I am not holding out much hope there as, in my last house, I was told that the oil stains, created from people stepping off the bed after their massage, are pretty much impossible to remove. But anyway, regardless of that, it feels good to have cleaned both the carpet and my teeth.
As I said, I had plenty of time to reflect on the fact I was doing both these things at the same time. So often, our physical environment reflects our life and this was a perfect example. By cleaning the carpet, it meant that nearly all the bits of furniture were removed and the dust and spider’s webs behind these, removed as well. I might tackle a bedroom or sitting room at one time, but rarely do I do the whole household in one go, as happened yesterday.
I have started to eat a bit more healthily, so in some ways another attempt to clean, this time the inner me. Perhaps all of this is indicating a spiritual cleanse would be in order too. Maybe I will put on a meditation later this afternoon.
