Solution finally found
I was annoyed yesterday when I was unable to sign into my Sky app. I had watched a bit of the Olympics in the morning, but was unable to disconnect, being told I needed to sign in to my app to do so. I didn’t have my password handy so left it, thinking I would do so later. Meanwhile, the Sky on the tv was overridden by something Stephen was watching on U Tube. When I tried to sign in later on my app, I got the message that an error had occurred. I tried everything, restarting my phone, asking to reset my password, but nothing helped. I rang Sky but the chap was unable to find my account until we worked out that Sky Sport and Sky are not the same department (or even company perhaps, not quite sure on that). I found the right place and emailed my concerns. There was no contact to actually talk to a person. Correspondence had to be via email or chat.
I was given a link to click on but that did not help and so there was no Olympics for me last night. This morning, I got a bit further, but the Sky app still refused to accept my password. But this time, at least I was able to watch the swimming on my phone on the link Sky provided, something I couldn’t do yesterday. Later, I carried out a series of trouble shooting checks that Sky had emailed me sometime during the night, including turning the internet and the chrome off for a minute before restarting. Still no luck. The last one on the list was to turn my phone on and off. I had already restarted my phone, but not actually turned it off completely. Restarting normally fixes any problem, as starting my phone after a complete turn off can be difficult at times. Still, I did this and viola, the problem was fixed. I can now log onto my Sky app and can once again use Chromecast.
However, this solution was not found until this morning. The Olympics are short and for one day of these, I was unable to access their coverage…disappointing.
I am hoping the rest of the experience will be trouble-free. I have paid for an Olympic package and a month on Sky Sport to watch the rugby. I don’t even know whether I needed to pay twice, but I did so. I wonder if they will let me know if this was in fact unnecessary and whether they will reimburse me for the day I missed. Somehow, I think not.
Footnote: The solution only lasted while no one was watching Sky. We had more issues again last night and this morning. The troubleshooting is not fixing the problem any more. I think Sky is not coping with the extra people watching. Grrrr.
