Leg work

I have been putting in the leg work towards promoting my book and this recent wet-weekend was the perfect opportunity to carry out some of those ‘gunna dos’. The two things on my list had been to contact Spiritualism New Zealand and the organiser of the Pukekohe Mind, Body, Spirit event. With the first, I had been sent my invoice for the following year’s payment but I realised that I hadn’t used any of their services or done anything to promote my book there, which was the whole reason I had joined up in the first place. I thought, that among like-minded people, I might find a few sales. I hummed and harred about whether to renew my subscription, then I thought, I haven’t even tried, lets give it a go. So I relayed my hesitation to the treasurer, along with my payment, and now I have been offered to talk about my book via a webinar to a group of six people. Perfect. It is via Zoom and while I have had some successful meetings, I have also had some that didn’t go too well, the last being to someone in America. They wanted to give me a presentation and although I said I would rather talk by phone, the presentation went ahead. Only trouble was, although I could see and hear the man, he was unable to do the same with me. I emailed back and said never mind, but I did have to apologise for wasting his time. Perhaps it was because I was using my phone and not my computer, I don’t know. The lady from Spiritualism NZ has offered to give me a dummy run, of which she says no pun is intended, but actually she is very much on the mark with that comment.

My second email, to the organiser of the Mind, Body event, was to confirm the title of my speech. At my last correspondence I had asked whether it would be better to do a meditation, but I have since thought that promoting my book is more important. I decided on the title, Reincarnation and Why We are Here. I had called my last talk How Our Pasts Affect Our Present but I thought the new title would pique people’s interest more. I was still not sure whether a speaking spot would be available for me, but she informed me that there should be one. She was doing up the list this weekend, so the timing of my email was perfect.

I realise that promoting my book among like-minded people, will be my best hope for further sales. And yes, the leg work is ongoing. There are not that many people interested in what I write about, so targeting those people with an interest in spiritualism specifically, will be my best bet. And who knows, I may even start my own Webinars once I work out how to use this Zoom technology.

Before I pulled up Windows to write this blog, I went onto Zoom just to see how it all sat. I was encouraged to download a couple of things which I did, so hopefully, the dummy run and the actual talk go ahead without too many hiccups. That reminds me, the bulb in this spare room where my computer sits, has blown. I must replace that sooner, rather than later. Perhaps now would be a good time.
