Fighting Covid
Stephen and I have been exposed to Covid. Neither of us are sick, but we both feel lethargic.
Both of us had three vaccinations, then got a brutal dose whilst on holiday a couple of years ago, forcing us to return earlier than we had planned.
Will we get it a second time? With our upcoming visit to Gold Coast in just over a fortnight, as far as I am concerned, I either want it now or not at all. With a new baby on the way in the household where we’ll be staying, the last thing we want to do is to pass it on.
I am hoping that I will have immunity this time around. I have had a soreish throat and a raw chest for a couple of days now, but nothing more, nothing new developing. If I had to diagnose myself, I would say I am fighting the disease, and winning and will come out the other side with no more symptoms. Of course, these could very well be psychosomatic. There is nothing like the knowledge of exposure to produce symptoms in a person.
We are keeping ourselves away from others, just in case, but the ironic thing is we could very well have been exposed to it at the funeral and earlier at the book launch, or any one of the number of places we have visited over the last little while, so that even if we have escaped getting it from our known source, we could still catch it anyway. I have heard of numerous cases up in our area over the last few weeks, including a few people from our writing group.
Thank heavens the disease doesn’t seem to be as bad as those early days of Covid, when people ended up on the ventilator, though I do know some people who have been quite sick with this latest variant.
I think I shall make myself a juice, fresh fruit and vegetables and a large chunk of ginger. That should help my immunity.
